Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

Effective November 4, 2026

This policy explains what information Accountability Careers (“the Site”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The Site is an independent publication run from Japan.

Summary

  • We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read. It uses cookies.
  • We do not load analytics or advertising tags for visitors who appear to be in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
  • If you contact us, we store your name (if provided), email address, selected topic, and full message on Cloudflare so that we can handle your request.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give your email address to advertisers or other companies for their own marketing.
  • We do not currently offer email subscriptions or use affiliate links. We will update this policy before introducing either. See our Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure.

Who is responsible for your information

The Site is run by a business based in Japan. That business is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time through our contact form. If you would like to know the name and address of the business and the name of its representative, ask through the contact form and we will tell you without delay.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact messages. When you use the contact form, we receive the email address you enter, your name if you choose to give it, the topic you select, and your message.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics. After checking the current connection country on each page load, the Site loads Google Tag Manager (GTM) to load Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only if the country is outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. If the country check fails, these tags are not loaded. GA4 uses cookies (such as _ga) and can collect the pages you view, the page that referred you, your approximate location (country, region, and city, estimated from your IP address), your device and browser type, and interactions such as scrolling and clicks on links that leave the Site. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. The contact handler does not send your name, email address, or message to Google Analytics.
  • Hosting and security. The Site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details (such as the page requested, browser, and time) to deliver pages and to protect the Site from abuse. The Site also asks Cloudflare which country your connection comes from, so that it can skip analytics for the regions named above.

How we use information

  • To run the Site, keep it secure, and fix problems.
  • To understand which articles are useful and to improve them.
  • To reply to your messages and to handle requests about your information.

Cookies and similar technologies

CookieSet byPurposeLifetime

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The Site does not currently change its analytics loading in response to Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. These signals do not disable GA4 on this Site; the country check described above still applies. To block analytics, use browser controls or the opt-out add-on.

Tracking across websites

The configuration files reviewed on November 4, 2026 define a basic GA4 tag for this Site, with its own GA4 property and measurement ID. Those files do not configure cross-domain measurement, User-ID tracking, or advertising tags. This describes the configuration we could verify; it does not confirm the settings currently published in GTM or set in the GA4 administration console, including Google Signals, advertising connections, or data-sharing options.

Google provides services on many websites and may collect information about your activity over time and across websites that use its services. We cannot confirm from our configuration files whether Google links this Site’s analytics data with activity elsewhere. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.

Advertising

The Site does not currently show display advertising. We will update this policy before introducing it.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information or provide contact details to advertisers for their own marketing. The services involved in operating the Site are described below.

  • Cloudflare: hosts and protects the Site and stores contact submissions in the Site’s D1 database, including the name (if provided), email address, selected topic, full message, receipt ID, and receipt time.
  • Google: receives analytics information when the tags described above load.
  • Discord: receives an internal notification containing only a randomly generated receipt ID and the receipt time. We do not send your name, email address, selected topic, or message to Discord.
  • When the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect the rights and safety of users, other people, or the Site.

International transfers

We operate from Japan and use Cloudflare, Google, and Discord. Information handled through these services may be processed outside your country. Their processing locations and terms depend on the service and account configuration. Contact submissions are stored on Cloudflare; Discord receives only the receipt ID and time. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy, Google Privacy Policy, and Discord Privacy Policy for their practices.

How long we keep information

  • Contact messages: up to two years after our last exchange, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
  • Analytics: retention depends on the GA4 property settings. We have not verified the live retention settings and cannot confirm a specific retention period here.
  • Hosting and security logs: for the periods Cloudflare applies to its logs.

How we protect information

  • Every page is served over HTTPS.
  • Only the people who need it can access the accounts and systems that hold personal information, and those accounts are protected by strong authentication.
  • We collect only what we need, and we delete what we no longer need.
  • Contact submissions are stored in a server-side database and are not published on the Site. Internal Discord notifications contain only the receipt ID and time.

Your choices and rights

  • Access, correction, deletion, and stopping use: you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, stop using it, or stop providing it to others. You can also ask for records of any provision to third parties. Send the request through the contact form with the email address it concerns. We may ask you to confirm the request from that address. We do not charge a fee.
  • United States: depending on where you live, you may have the right to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell contact information or provide it to advertisers for their own marketing. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your message. An authorized agent may make a request for you with proof of authorization.
  • Complaints: please contact us first. You can also contact the data protection authority where you live. In Japan, that is the Personal Information Protection Commission.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland

The Site is not directed at people in these regions. For visitors whose connection appears to come from them, we do not load analytics or advertising tags. If the country check fails, those tags are also not loaded. Email subscriptions are not offered in any region.

Children

The Site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and change the effective date at the top.
